Camp Manitou programming update

May 26, 2020 | By: Jason Friesen

Camp Manitou is excited to announce that, in alignment with the provincial government’s decision to allow day camps to open, we will be running our day camps beginning in July! We will continue to work closely with designated health authorities over the coming weeks to ensure that necessary protocols are put into place to ensure the safety of our campers.

We are undertaking a thorough review of each activity that we typically run and will only operate the ones that can be done with physical distancing. Extensive cleaning of all equipment and common areas will be standard practice throughout the summer. In addition, all meals will be plated or individually packaged, in place of buffet lines during the summer of 2020.

All families that have registered campers for day camp this summer will receive further information from our staff over the next few weeks.

We anticipate that in order to adhere to physical distancing guidelines we will be required to run each week of day camp at less than full capacity. Unfortunately, this means not every currently registered camper will be guaranteed a spot this summer, and for that we apologize. However, we must keep the health and safety of our campers and staff and provincial guidelines as the top priorities as we plan to resume camp activities.

While we will be accepting campers on a first registered, first served basis, we are still working to determine our maximum capacity. We are looking into possible adjustments to the structure and length of the camp day that will allow us to welcome as many campers as possible. Once our plans and capacity are finalized, we will be in touch with further information.

In keeping with the Phase 2 plan outlined by the provincial government, we have made the decision to cancel all overnight camps for this summer. If you have registered a camper for one of our overnight camps you will be contacted by one of our staff to discuss options for day camp, or you can receive a refund, or have your fees transferred to 2021.

Thank you very much for your patience and understanding as we work through these various details. Full information regarding summer camp will be posted on our website by June 1 and all families will be contacted during the first week in June regarding the plan for their campers. We really appreciate your continued support of Camp Manitou!
